K4ST is one of 24 organizations across Canada that are banding together and appealing to the Trudeau government for a national moratorium on the 5G roll-out, until questions about the human health effects are resolved.
We are a group of citizens advocating for safe, reliable, and responsible technology. We are concerned about the growing body of scientific research showing adverse health effects from exposures to wireless technologies. Common wireless sources include cell phones, Wi-Fi, iPads, Fitbits, Bluetooth, cell towers, cordless phones, Alexa/Google Home, and baby monitors. As convenient as such technology is, there is a growing awareness of its dangers, particularly when it comes to children. We are now exposed to a quintillion (one billion billion) times more wireless radiation than 10 years ago.(1)
The deployment of 5G will involve small cell antennas placed outside of homes and will result in continuous and involuntary radiation exposure for everyone. Children, the elderly, and people with chronic illnesses are particularly vulnerable.(2)
Thousands of studies show a wide range of biological effects at levels far below current Industry Canada’s exposure guidelines and people are becoming ill as a result of exposures. Symptoms include headaches, insomnia, heart arrhythmias, rashes, dizziness, ringing in the ears, infertility and cancer.(2,3) A recent $25 million US government-funded study provides clear evidence that exposure to wireless radiation causes cancer. (4)
There has never been any pre-market safety testing on wireless technologies and insurance companies such as Lloyd's of London and Aviva will not provide coverage to Telecom companies for EMF exposure-related health claims or damages. (5)
We believe in exercising our democratic right to determine how new communications technologies will be implemented in our communities, our homes and our lives. No vague promise of future benefits is worth jeopardizing our democratic principles, our freedom of choice, or our health, safety, security and privacy.
